삼성서울병원 신생아팀은 미숙아와 선천기형 등을 포함한 다양한 질병을 가진 고위험신생아를 대상으로 외래 및 입원 진료를 하고 있으며, 특히 24시간 전담의 상주 진료체계를 갖춘 총 59병상의 신생아중환자실에서 신생아 집중치료를 위해 최선을 다하고 있습니다.

특히 임신나이 21주 5일의 초미숙아를 성공적으로 생존시켰으며, 조산으로 태어난 출생 체중 1000g 미만의 초극소저체중아 그 중에서도 생존한계 이하인 임신나이 24주 이하의 초미숙아 치료를 중심으로 치료성적에 있어 선진국의 우수 병원들과 어깨를 나란히 하고 있습니다. 

또한 서울지역 최초로 지정된 복지부 고위험산모·신생아 통합센터로서 산과와 소아외과, 안과, 심장 및 흉부외과, 비뇨의학과, 정형외과, 신경외과  및 소아 재활의학과, 소아 영상의학과를  포함한 각 분야 소아관련 의료진들과의 긴밀한 협력을 통하여 고위험산모와 태아부터 고위험신생아의 치료와 장기추적에 이르기까지 전주기 통합 집중케어를 체계적으로 시행하고 있습니다.

연구분야에서는 신생아 만성폐질환, 미숙아 뇌실내출혈, 저산소허혈뇌병증을 비롯한 중증 신생아 난치질환 극복을 위해 세계 최초로 신생아 분야의 줄기세포 치료제 개발을 위한 중개 및 임상연구를  선도하고 있으며, 기존의 치료법을 뛰어넘는 혁신적이고 차별화된 치료법을 개발하여 궁극적으로 중증 질환을 앓는 미숙아 및 신생아들의 장기 예후 개선을 목표로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다.

The Neonatal Care Team at Seoul Samsung Medical Center provides both outpatient and inpatient care for high-risk neonatal patients with a variety of disease states, including prematurity and congenital malformations. In particular, we strive for the best neonatal intensive care by providing 24/7 residing specialists having a total of 59 beds.

We have successfully saved the life of an extremely preterm infant born at a gestational age of 21 weeks and five days. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the best hospitals in leading countries in terms of treatment outcomes, particularly for extremely preterm infants with less than 1000g of birth weight and those born before the limit of viability at 24 weeks gestation.

As the first integrated medical center for high-risk pregnancy and neonatal care in Seoul designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, we work as a multidisciplinary team with specialists in obstetrics, pediatric surgery, ophthalmology, cardiothoracic surgery, urology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, pediatric rehabilitation, and pediatric radiology. Specialists from each department cooperate professionally and systematically to provide full-cycle care, from high-risk pregnancy care to prenatal and neonatal care, as well as long-term follow up of high-risk infants.

In the field of research, we are leading stem cell research for newborns and infants for the first time in the world to conquer incurable diseases, including but not limited to neonatal chronic lung diseases, intracerebral hemorrhage in premature infants, and hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. We are developing innovative and individualized treatments beyond traditional therapy to ultimately improve the long-term prognosis of premature infants with severe diseases.
