Before Surgery Care
Things to keep in mind on the day before surgery and the day of surgery.
Day Before Surgery

Write written consent of surgery
Listen to the explanation given by your doctor with a guardian and write the written consent. -
No eating or drinking
No eating or drinking from midnight
(Even water is not allowed.) -
Remove any accessories
Remove all accessories (glasses, contact lenses, dentures), makeup, and manicure. -
Shampoo
Shampoo your hair with the provided sterilizing liquid.
Do not use usual soap. -
Obtain intravenous line
Get intravenous line (intravenous injection route) in advance for fluid supply during surgery.
Day of Surgery

Examination of response to antibiotics and intravenous line
In order to confirm safety of the antibiotic to be used a test for hypersensitivity or any allergic reaction is done on the arm. Fluid is connected to the body. -
Wash face and brush teeth
Do the same as you have done before surgery. -
Urinate
Empty your bladder by urinating before going to the operating room. -
Put on surgery gown
Remove all undergarments and put on the surgery gown and compression stockings (for prevention of thrombus). -
Go to operating room
When it is time, go to the operating room on the third floor on the transport bed with a patient transporter. The guardian will wait either in the waiting room or the patient’s room. -
Keep catheter
Insert urine catheter in the operating room and remove it the day after surgery.
